Wao, Lanao del Sur — In a significant step toward improving public service efficiency, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Wao has officially launched a Taxpayers’ Kiosk aimed at simplifying Business Permit applications and Real Property Tax filings. This project, which has been operational since January 2018, was made possible through the financial backing of the Provincial Government, led by Vice Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Jr., and the dedicated efforts of Municipal Treasurer Mr. Edgar B. Demegillo. The initiative has also received full support from Mayor Bobby B. Balicao, who has prioritized enhancing taxpayer services in the municipality.
The Taxpayers’ Kiosk is a new facility designed to offer re
sidents and business owners a convenient, self-service option for handling various tax-related transactions. By automating parts of the application process and providing a user-friendly digital interface, the kiosk aims to reduce waiting times and streamline the overall experience for taxpayers. This new system is expected to improve compliance rates and support efficient revenue collection, contributing to the financial health of the local government.
Enhanced Public Service Delivery
The implementation of the kiosk aligns with the LGU’s vision of leveraging technology to modernize local services. The new facility offers a seamless way for residents to apply for business permits, check the status of their applications, and pay Real Property Taxes without the need for long queues. It also features an accessible design, ensuring that even those who are not tech-savvy can easily navigate the system with guidance from LGU staff when necessary.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to making public services more efficient and accessible for our community,” said Mayor Bobby B. Balicao. “The kiosk is just one part of our broader strategy to upgrade government operations, making it easier for people to comply with regulations and manage their tax obligations.”
A Collaborative Effort
The establishment of the Taxpayers’ Kiosk was a collaborative effort involving multiple levels of government. Vice Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Jr. provided critical financial support to ensure the project’s realization, while Mr. Edgar B. Demegillo, the Municipal Treasurer, played a key role in overseeing its implementation and ensuring that the system meets the needs of local taxpayers.
“With the introduction of the kiosk, we are taking a step forward in delivering better services to our constituents. It is a testament to the hard work of our team and the support of our leaders,” said Mr. Demegillo. He also highlighted the potential for increased revenue collection, which can be redirected toward various community development projects in Wao.
